Dr. Jon Pokora is entering his fifth year as principal at Waterbury School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in from Augustana College in 2004. In 2009, he earned his Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. In 2016, Dr. Pokora earned his Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Aurora University.
Dr. Pokora brings 20+ years of experience in education to Waterbury and Keeneyville SD 20 with a variety of building and district office administrative roles. He began his teaching career in Carol Stream. Dr. Pokora later moved to become an assistant principal at Marquardt Middle School and later, for seven years, was principal at Winnebago Elementary School. He moved to the district office for two years in Berwyn.
Dr. Pokora lives in Palatine with his wife and three daughters and one son. He spends his spare time chauffeuring his children around town. He is a Chicago sports fan and enjoys watching the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, Fire, Sky and Red Stars!
Nicole Fricano earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with minors in secondary education and psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership.
Mrs. Fricano brings 18 years of experience in education to Waterbury and Keeneyville School District 20. She began her career as a 7th and 8th grade ELA Teacher at Neal Math and Science Academy in the North Chicago Community School District. Mrs. Fricano was the yearbook advisor for 2 years and coached both girls and boys volleyball for 4 years. In 2015, Mrs. Fricano became an instructional coach at Forrestal Elementary in the North Chicago Community School District. She later became the assistant principal at Forrestal Elementary School, helping to service both military families who serve at the Great Lakes Navy Base and non-military families who live in the community. Mrs. Fricano is a product of the Keeneyville School District, attending both Waterbury Elementary and Springwood Middle School as a child.
Mrs. Fricano lives with her husband, her 9-year-old daughter, and her dog, Winston. She spends her spare time coaching her daughter’s softball team, spending time at the ice rink watch her daughter skate, swimming and soaking up the sun, or riding with her husband on his motorcycle. When not doing that, she is surrounded by her family and friends and enjoys spending time with them.
